How gender empowerment changes the culture of investment

“The increase in women’s wealth and influence, coupled with increasing research to show that gender diversity correlated with better performance, has bolstered a focus on gender balance in the workplace. Recently, Morgan Stanley launched a score to assess the level of gender diversity within a company’s workforce, finding that the most gender-diverse companies outperformed their regional benchmarks, while the least gender-diverse firms underperformed. Gender lens investing – the incorporation of gender elements into an investment decision-making process – is on the rise. How is this affecting the culture of foreign investment and the decision-making of foreign investors and policy-makers?” (IME 2020)

Pannel discussion

This pannel was moderated by editor-in-chief of FDI (foreign direct investments) division at New Statesman Media Group, UK. Courtney Fingar is a 15 years experienced editor – in- chief of fDi Magazine which is a central part of the fDi Intelligence portfolio of investment products and services from the Financial Times.

Steinbeis expert, Juergen Raizner, took the chance to contribute to the pannel by pointing out the importance of female empowerment into a dedicated platform aimed to facilitate investments. Reliable and secure investments, final decisions are based on a plenty of sociological arguments. Gender empowerment is a subject of education for equilibrium of the socio-economic environment.

Thus, Steinbeis as specialized management consultancy entity took the chance to introduce ifempower, an Erasmus + project, aimed to introduce female entreprenurship and mentorship module into partnering European universities. Project was briefly presented as example for grassroots action and reason for different stakeholders to reunite and promote other shared goals. Side-discussions benefited from contribution of Roxana Boboruta, project manager of ifempower on behalf of Steinbeis East West Joint Ventures.
