First county from Romania agrees to strengthen competitiveness through technology transfer.
Targoviste, June 12th, 2020: Dambovita County Council and Steinbeis Transfer Management sign Memorandum of Understanding
In the official meeting for MoU signing, Steinbeis Romania was represented by CEE expert Juergen Raizner and, on behalf of Dambovita County Council, President Alexandru Oprea participated. Discussions benefited from contribution of county council`s vice-president, Alin Manole and county`s general secretary, Ivan Vasile Ivanoff.
General purpose of MoU is to increase county`s competitiveness through various actions:
- support offered to county council into creating and managing a technology transfer platform reuniting main stakeholders (local administration, companies, university, schools and other interested entities);
- strategic projects for competitiveness (business, tourism, low carbon economy);
- internationalization of the collaboration by facilitating contacts, especially with Baden-Wuerttemberg land.
Due to this agreement and openness to collaborating, Dambovita – as partner – will be the first county in which pilot-project Early Innovators Business Plan Contest will be implemented. Project is based on one of the most important German best practice models for private-public partnership into guiding youth to study STEM and for young researchers to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. At the same time model serves as basis for technology transfer and dual education issues. Project is funded by Baden-Wuerttemberg Foundation (Program „Perspektive Donau: Bildung, Kultur und Zivilgesellschaft“) and it is connected with Steinbeis` activities towards EU Strategy for Danube Region (EUSDR).
Project was introduced to important education units from the county through the support of prof. Nicolae Olariu who facilitated also visit to Priboiu Industrial Park.
In this regard, official meeting was followed by a visit to Dambovita county`s school inspectorate where the host, prof. Ion Sorin, received a briefing about further plans in which his support will be highly welcomed.
Additionaly, Juergen Raizner has met rector of Valahia University of Targoviste, Prof. Laura Monica Gorghiu. Both agreed to discuss further collaboration soon. Most probably, such will gave birth to a new Steinbeis Transfer Center as university benefits from Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Science and Technology focused on subjects that are of great value for companies competitiveness.
At the beggining of this year, Dambovita County Concil was invited to present local investment opportunities at Investment Management Exhibition 2020 from Frankfurt – the biggest platform from Germany on investments. For this, a visit took also place at Priboiu Industrial Park where Mr. Joita Ion introduced the park as a reliable subject for IME 2020, together with the other 2 industrial parks from the county (Mija and Moreni).
Dambovita County Council benefits from excellent touristic points that need consistent investment. As an example and also defined as national strategic interest from touristic point of view, Plateau Cave Padina located in the heart of Bucegi mountains is in line with investors expectations participating in IME:
- construction of a ski slope;
- construction of cable transport facilities;
- construction of hotels, restaurants, commercial spaces, etc.
Due to COVID19 pandemics, IME 2020 will take place on new date: September, 8th-9th, 2020. Till then work on how to better promote these opportunities is in progress.
